Installation Process

Required Tools

  1. 10mm Wrench (Socket or Open-end)
  2. OBD-II Memory Saver (For backup power)
  3. Large-to-Small Terminal Adapters (If your car uses JIS small terminals)

Step 1: Connect Backup Power

Plug the memory saver into the OBD-II port. This ensures the car’s settings (ECU data, clock, etc.) are not wiped when the main battery is disconnected.

Step 2: Remove the Old Battery

  1. Loosen the Negative (-) Terminal first and move it aside.
  2. Loosen the Positive (+) Terminal.
  3. Remove the battery hold-down bracket using your 10mm wrench.

Step 3: Terminal Adaptation

Since the Sentra B17 uses small (JIS) terminals, but the Houny battery has large posts, I installed copper terminal adapters. These sleeves sit over the battery posts, allowing the original terminal clamps to fit perfectly.

Step 4: Install the New Battery

  1. Place the Houny battery into the tray.
  2. Secure the hold-down bracket.
  3. Connect the Positive (+) Terminal first.
  4. Connect the Negative (-) Terminal last.

Conclusion

Upgrading to a LiFePO4 battery like the Houny unit provides much more stable voltage and a significantly longer lifespan compared to traditional lead-acid batteries. For Sentra owners, just be mindful of the terminal size mismatch and ensure you have the correct adapters before you start.
