Notes on Choosing Window Tint: Understanding TSER, Metal vs. Ceramic Films
I strongly suggest choosing major international brands if your budget allows. For small "rebranded" labels (often found in bundle deals), data can be fabricated, and the long-term risk of material degradation or toxic off-gassing under heat is simply not worth the savings.
Major Western Brands (IWFA Certified)
Solargard
Distributed by Sun Mark. High durability, famous for the LX and Ti series.
V-KOOL / IQue
Distributed by Teapo. Renowned for top-tier metallic films (V series).
3M
Crystalline (unbeatable clarity) and Obsidian series.
Eastman Brands (LLumar / SunTek)
World-leading manufacturers with massive production capacity.
Key Parameter Analysis
Total Heat Rejection: TSER
- The absolute metric for heat rejection.
- Calculated based on AM 1.5 Solar Spectrum.
- Accounts for UV, Visible Light, and IR.
- Higher is always better.
Infrared Rejection: IRR vs IRER
IRR: No Real Value
Often measures only a narrow band (940nm) and ignores re-radiation heat.
IRER: Closest to Real Feel
Measures the entire infrared spectrum (780–2500nm).
Material Comparison: Metallic vs. Ceramic

When selecting a tint, don't just ask for "Infrared Rejection." Check the TSER and Internal Reflection rate. A high internal reflection can make night driving dangerous due to dashboard glare on the window.
